PARTNERSHIP announced between FOSH and ACTHA

Friends of Sound Horses (FOSH) is pleased to announce that is has entered into an educational partnership with ACTHA, the American Competitive Trail Horse Association.

ACHTA founder, Carrie Scrima, and FOSH Vice President, Dianne Little, agree that "the formation of this educational partnership is the perfect venue to aid and assist the health and welfare of our fellow equines and reward the abilities of gaited horses."

Both ACTHA and FOSH are committed to providing and enjoyable venue that recognizes and rewards the abilities of all horses on the trails. ACTHA venues provide the horse and rider team an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and skills. FOSH supports ACHTA by providing education to Obstacle Judges regarding the movement of gaited horses. FOSH also verifies entries in the ACTHA Gaited Medal division.

ALLIANCE PARTNERSHIP
by Dianne Little

I am pleased announce an Alliance Partnership between FOSH and North American Western Dressage (NAWD). I am excited about this partnership that combines organizations of a similar philosophy. NAWD has developed a platform for Virtual Dressage Competition. Although originally intended for Western Dressage, as a result of this Alliance Partnership, the NAWD platform will expand to involve gaited horses. The gaited horse component of Virtual Dressage will be under “Gaits Wide Open”. Under Gaits Wide Open, gaited horses and their owners can participate in Virtual Dressage.

A Virtual program is exciting for many reasons. Frequently Gaited horse enthusiasts find they have no place to “show”. I hear from potential Dressage riders that they could not find a show close to home or a show that would allow them to compete with a gaited horse or they are not interested in competition but want to train using dressage principles and receive feedback on that training. Virtual Dressage under the “Gaits Wide Open” feature truly open all doors for those who want to compete or receive feedback. If you choose to perform your Dressage test at home and have it recorded, you upload that video and it will be judged by Licensed IJA Dressage Judges.

FOSH Gaited Dressage has expanded to add a Virtual category to the Traditional category of dressage. In other words, you can choose to participate in Traditional Live shows or in Virtual Shows. You may choose to compete in both – the choice is yours. With the addition of the Virtual category, there is no change to the rules for FOSH Gaited Dressage. The Virtual competition for gaited horses includes both Western and Classical or Traditional Dressage. The tests may be any of the authorized tests included under the Rules for FOSH Gaited Dressage. You may compete in both categories or in one category. For Award purposes, scores attained in one category may not be included in another category.

This is an exciting opportunity that allows for greater competition and feedback. If you choose the Virtual option you may be competing with other gaited horses worldwide without leaving your backyard. Truly Gaits Wide Open.
